Review: "All I Want Is A Thug," by Porscha Sterling

February 19, 2017

I've never really been one to read books like this one. Call me bias but I always believed books that looked like this were nothing short of sort of boring. Then again, at the time, I was more into reading books like Fallen by Lauren Kate or Hush Hush by Becca Fitzgerald. I was into supernatural and paranormal books at the time.

But...after reading this book I've come to have a better understanding, and a greater level of respect, for such writing.

All I Want Is A Thug is a story about a young woman who seems to be so blinded by love that she doesn't truly see who the man she loves really is. She's like most women who fall in love with "their" dream guy. They're so in love that they can't see straight or clearly and that's the problem Chellise is having.

Her friends see the truth but no one is willing to hurt her...even if it costs them their friendship.

Not long in the story does she have a run in with a childhood friend by the name of Kendrick. He has a thing for her, and she believes she has a thing for him, but she's in a relationship and isn't willing to step out on the man she matter how attracted to Kendrick she is.

A series of events will lead Chellise down a path that may, or may not, help her to finally look at her life through unclouded eyes.

I'm going to stop there because I don't want to spoil anything. All I will say now is...never judge a book by it's cover. Never let your bias mind keep you from going on another adventure or from learning a great life lesson.
